Tennessee code annotated section 39-14-121 describes the offense of passing a worthless check as passing a check the one knowingly or with fraudulent intent issues a check with insufficient funds in the account to pay that check, as well as all other outstanding funds. A stop payment of a check after goods or services have been received is also a chargeable offense under this statue. Worthless Checks is a Theft offense, which is classified according to the value of the written check. Any worthless check written for more than $500 will be charged as a felony.
